I agree with the majority of the comments, the walkabout window is great for really fine tunig a view to render. AR4 in my opinion is horrible. I am a Landscape Architect that at times has big files to render. The lag time between model tabs and render tabs is way too long not to mention the time it takes to render big files. Being able to turn while a file is rendering would be great to be able to get a better angle if the one you initally selected just is not quite right without having to stop the rendering process.

I have a model of a big site that when I start to render some of the plant material is missing trees and shrubs.

I don't know if I am in the minority but the work I do tends to render overall sites for the clients to get a better understanding overall and then renders more tighter views to show the detail. A lot of the images that I see are single object specific. I don't know if the thinking behind AR3, AR4, or AR5 is with the tighter views in mind or with larger sites and or objects.

Intellicad version is what I'm very interested in.

Any information on when this might be available in Beta (or Alpha) would be greatly appreciated. My platform is progeCAD (Intellicad Pro)

I've had Accurender for AutoCAD previously and loved it.

I am no longer a slave to Autodesk ... ;)

Thanks,

I am using ACA 2008.

I am running into the viewport size/orientation issue which was solved by having an internal walkabout view.

Easily, my biggest issue is the lack of material -> ACI. All of our models are built in the ADT/Architecture modeling system, so the walls, doors, etc... all are based in Xrefs and pulled from Autocad's material designations (which I've set up to relate ACI to material). I got used to this system using AR3 with Archtiectural Desktop 2006, and think it works beautifully.

I like the new streamlined interface, ar4 seemed overly clunky and slow (even on quad core machine) keep it up and get this software out so I can render in vista! I have had problems with tech support and getting ar4 to read my mat libraries in vista, so I am eager to stop switching back and forth to XP.

When I re-opened the document, I had lost all of my AR5 materials and will have to start all over. Are you blocking the autosave? If the materials don't appear in the load list, does that mean they're not recorded in the .dwg, or do I have to purge it now?

By the way, the default ACAD renderer now does a pretty good job, so I'm wondering what you expect the added value of AR in AutoCAD to be.
