Installing, Configuring, and Running AccuRender nXt for Revit 2008

*Warning* - It is important you follow all these instructions for instalation to be successful.  This is a very early version fo the product and the installer is not automatic.

To Install:

Download and run the installation file ArNxt.exe.  Follow the installation instructions.

To  Configure:
The first time you install the product, you must configure Revit to recognize nXt as a plug-in.  This procedure only needs to be done once.  It does not need to be repeated when you update AccuRender nXt. If you are an advanced user and would prefer to manually update you revit.ini file, see the ArRevit.ini file in the installation directory for the appropriate keywords.  Otherwise, do the following:
1. Make sure Revit is not running.

2. In the folder where you installed AccuRender nXt (normally: Program Files\AccuRender nXt) locate the program called ArRevitConfig.exe.

    • For Windows XP double click on the icon to start the configuration.
    • For Vista, right click on the icon, select “Run as Administrator”, and select “Allow” when prompted by Vista security.

3. The configuration program will ask you to locate Revit.ini so it can make some modifications.  It will automatically backup the revit.ini file for you just in case.  The revit.ini file is normally located in “Program Files\Revit Architecture 2008\Program”. Once you find the file and select Open, you should get a message box indicating a successful configuration.

To Run: Open Revit.  An additional menu item, “AccuRender” should appear.
On Vista:  Revit will likely need to run as an administrator in order to load its plug-ins.  You can do this temporarily, by right-clicking on the Revit icon and selecting “Run as Administrator”.  You can also change any Revit shortcut to always run as an administrator by right-clicking on the shortcut, selecting Properties…, going to the Shortcut tab, clicking Advanced, and finally checking “Run as Administrator”.

I am having trouble opening a previous file that I did in Revit Arch 2008 before the Accurender update. When I am in a perspective view, it won't let me choose anything under the AccuRender tab up top. Any help?

Wow. I am liking what I see in the rendering, even with all of the limitations that you described. There is no comparison to what Revit's Accurender creates and what nXt creates. I can't wait for greater control over views and settings. Keep up the great work!

I followed instruction for installation but I can not get the "Control Panel" to appear?  I am getting this error message " Perspective view required". This happens in any view.

So far it seems to work great.  It is much improved over the previous version in Revit.

Are there plans to upgrade it to work with 2009?

I'm also not able to get the accurender control panel working. I tried it in a new project and in an old project. when I don't have a perspective view it is not grayed out and it says I need a perspective view. When I do have a perspective view the control panel menu is grayed out.

What do I need to do?

Like RyGuy3498, I think I figured it out... You need to be in a 3d orthographic view, then select the accurender control panel and then you can choose your cameras.

That's how I got it to work.
