IRender nXt - Getting Started

IRender nXt - Getting Started

The first version of IRender nXt is ready for testing. Visit the download area to get a copy and try it  out.

This article takes you through Getting Started with IRender nXt.

The steps in the first section will be used for all Trial methods.

Setup IRender Nxt Beta Text

1. Download the latest version of IRender V2.0.

2. Start SketchUp

Download SketchUp 6.0 from Here: ( SketchUp Download ) if you don't have it yet.

IRender nXt works with both th free and professional versions.

3. Start IRender

  • Select IRender V2.0 Load from the SketchUp Plugins menu.

4. Setup IRender nXt Beta Test

  • Load the Options Dialog, and go to the Setup tab.
  • There is a radio button at the top to select IRender AR3 mode or IRender nXt mode.
  • There are two new settings on the dialog for IRender nXt. (These will only show up after you use the radio button to switch to IRender nXt mode.)

Light Processing

  • Indirect lighting takes into effect the reflection of light off of surfaces in your model. (We tried to do this in IRender AR3 with Radiosity.)
  • Direct Lighting only takes into effect the direct lighting from a light source. It is much faster than indirect lighting, but does not product as realistic a result.

Stop Rendering After

IRender Nxt will continue rendering, improving the lighting, reflection, etc. on each pass, until you stop it (with the Red icon on the render window).

Set the Maximum Passes and/or Seconds to a value other than 0, and the rendering will stop after the number of passes, or number of seconds has been completed.

(There is currently no way to restart the rendering after the maximum is reached. You will have to change the number of passes or time and restart it from the beginning.)

5. Start Rendering

  • Click the Render icon: Image:Render24.PNG

What to Expect

  1. IRender Nxt may cause some Bug Splats - so save you drawing once in a while.
  2. This is a beta test version. If something goes wrong, let us know - but don't try to fix it. we can probably fix it and make a new version in a couple of days.

Ways to try it out

If you have already been using IRender AR3 and have a model you want to try with IRender nXt, follow these steps.
