    Glass problems

AL with the latest release my window components glass appear solid black/grey no matter what setting I use.

I was also getting some very strange behaviour on my other machine, when the actually transparent glass colour changed after I had selected thin glass and made it a daylight portal, it changed from translucent -glass- orange to bright red but rendered black.

    Re: Glass problems

While I am looking into this (unlikely that you will see a new version before next week, because tomorrow is the day we celebrate our independace from King George III.

     1. What is behind the window. If it is a SketchUp Sky, or a background color, rather than an Automatic or HDRI sky, then the transparency will may not work.
(I thought we had fixed that, but it may have broken again)

    2. Does the material appear transparent in the Material Eiditor?

    3. Does the material have a texture. (Some dark SketcUp materials have a texture which is black. Because nXt defines black as a color which doesn't let any light through no matter how transparent it is, we have a problem with black textures in materials)

    4. Copy the window to the clipboard, paste it into an empty model, and send it to me.

(It is so much easier for me to test things with a small model)

Al attached is standard sketchup component I have been using.

    1. Tried all - no change.

    2. Appears transparent in Mat Editor

    3. No material texture.

Somehow the number of reflective and refractive bounces on the Special tab got set to 0.

Set them back to 3 and 6 and it should render properly.

I'll see if something happened to cause these settings to be lost.

    Thanks Al

That worked fine, buts its a mystery about how they got set to 0 though - maybe my very short term memory??

I'm not sure. I looked around and couldn't find anything specific.

Settings like this are supposed to be stored in the model.

However, in the next release, we are going to reset all settings to default when you start a new model, and we are going to do a better job of reading the setting from the model when you load a model.
